Terms of Service
Effective date: 14 October 2026 · Plain-language, India-focused
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Indian Family Tree helps people preserve family relationships, photographs, stories, obituaries and memorials. It may also offer locality pages and family groups or events. These terms cover IndianFamilyTree.com and its connected app.
The service is operated by IndianFamilyTree.com, part of the SocialPulse network, at Portland, OR 97236. “We” means that operator. Using the service is subject to these terms; creating an account or submitting content requires your clear acceptance. Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Optional advertising or marketing consent is separate.
2. Accounts and age
Account holders must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these terms. Give accurate registration details, protect your login and tell us if your account is used without permission.
A SocialPulse login may work across connected apps. Each app still has its own permissions; a common login does not make family information visible across the network.
Children may be included in a family record only through an authorized parent or lawful guardian and the required verified-consent process. Until that process is operational, do not add identifiable records or photographs of anyone under 18. Child profiles must not be publicly searchable. There are no independent child accounts in this version.
3. Respect other people’s privacy
Only upload information you are entitled to share. Being related to someone does not automatically give you permission to publish their personal details. Obtain the living person’s permission where required and use the minimum information needed.
Do not publish private phone numbers, exact home addresses, identity documents, financial details, medical records or sensitive allegations. Avoid unnecessary caste, religious, genetic or other sensitive family information. Information being available elsewhere is not permission to copy or republish it.
Choose your audience carefully. Linking a tree to a locality must not automatically make it public. Public content can be copied or indexed by others, so think before making it public.
4. Your content and our permission to use it
You retain any copyright or other rights you own in your photographs, stories and other submissions. You confirm that you have the necessary rights and permissions, including permission from people shown where required.
You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission, without payment to you, to host, store, display, format, resize and, when you choose the feature, translate your content to operate Indian Family Tree within the visibility you select.
For content you explicitly approve for SocialPulse network sharing, you also give us non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to display and adapt that approved content on other SocialPulse network sites. This permission must be explained at upload, and network sharing must be a separate choice. Private family content is not covered by public network-sharing permission.
This permission is not a sale of your copyright and does not authorize unrelated use or sale of your content. You may withdraw future network sharing or request removal through settings or our contact address. We will stop future use and remove copies we control, subject to necessary legal records and backup expiry. We cannot promise to erase independent copies made by others or search-engine caches.
We may use necessary hosting and processing providers under appropriate arrangements to deliver the service; they do not receive an unrestricted ownership licence.
5. Family records, obituaries and memorials
Share accurate information and identify uncertain dates or family recollections honestly. A family-tree entry is not an official certificate of birth, marriage, kinship, inheritance or ownership.
Only post an obituary or memorial when you have a reasonable basis for the information and authority to share it. Do not falsely report a person’s death or imply that you represent a family without permission. Keep tributes and condolences respectful. A request for supporting evidence will be handled privately.
If there is a dispute about a relationship, memorial, photograph or death announcement, we may pause public display while reviewing it. We do not decide inheritance, property, custody or other legal rights; those matters belong with the appropriate authorities.
6. What you must not do
Do not use the service for harassment, threats, hate, fraud, impersonation, defamatory claims, unlawful discrimination, sexual exploitation, non-consensual intimate content or other unlawful activity.
Do not upload stolen material, disclose another person’s private information without authority, create deceptive AI portraits or recordings, fabricate documents, spread malware, bypass access controls or scrape private trees. Clearly identify materially AI-generated or altered content when required; routine restoration must not misrepresent the original.
Do not send unsolicited bulk invitations or use family contact lists for marketing. Inviting someone does not make them a member until they accept the applicable access process.
7. AI, languages and outside links
AI tools may assist with spelling, translations, drafts or searching. They can make mistakes. Review names, dates, translations and statements before saving or publishing them. AI must not invent family relationships or death information.
The service is not legal, medical or professional genealogical advice. Linked maps, video sites and other services have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not guarantee information supplied by members or third parties.
8. Review, removal and complaints
We may review, restrict or remove content and suspend accounts where reasonably necessary to protect people, enforce these terms or comply with law. We will provide a reason and a way to request review where appropriate, unless doing so is unlawful or would create a safety risk.
Use our grievance form or email to contact our Grievance Officer: support@socialpulse.com. Provide the content link, the issue and enough information to investigate; do not send unnecessary identity documents.
Where the applicable Indian intermediary rules apply, complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and generally resolved within seven days, with shorter timelines for specified removal requests and urgent content. We will follow any stricter applicable deadline. Available statutory appeal routes remain unaffected.
Privacy complaints and removal requests can also be sent to support@socialpulse.com. An affected person may contact us even if they have no account.
9. Free use, changes and ending an account
Core registered-member participation and shared Pods are offered free, subject to reasonable fair-use limits. Any future optional paid service must show its price and separate terms before you agree. Normal internet/provider charges may apply.
You may stop using the service and request account closure. Closing your account does not automatically erase lawful contributions belonging to other members or independently shared records; we will review personal-information removal requests and explain any lawful retention.
Features may change or be unavailable temporarily. Keep your own copies of important records. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes where practical, and seek fresh consent where a changed use requires it.
10. Responsibility and Indian law
We take reasonable care to operate the service, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability or that every member’s information is accurate. To the extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by information or actions outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded, or removes mandatory consumer or privacy rights.
These terms are governed by applicable Indian law. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern. Disputes may be taken to a court or statutory forum with lawful jurisdiction; these terms do not prevent use of consumer, grievance or other mandatory remedies. No forced arbitration or invented exclusive court location is added.
